Half Day Adopt-a-Ponyfor Beginner Riders
9am –12.00pm or 1.00pm - 4pm A fun novice program for beginner riders - 5yrs and up. Ideal for children who know little or nothing about horses or ponies or are nervous riders. Riders are well supervised and receive instruction from a professional riding instructor in a safe, enclosed arena. Adopting-a-Pony for ½ a day is a cost effective way to introduce children with limited horse riding experience to the fun of horse riding and the importance of pony care. Teamed with Pony Tales older students, the riders are well supervised, enjoy group activities and games with professional instruction. Programme
Paired with one of the older Pony Tales school pupils, each rider learns the basics on how to catch, lead, tie up, brush, bridle, saddle, mount and how to care for a horse. Also, most days an equine specialists will visit i.e the farrier, horse dentist and vet. These professionals demonstrate their regular maintenance work on the ponies. Each student has a private one on one lesson to make sure that you are completely comfortable on your pony. For first time/beginner riders this time is used to teach basic techniques, gain confidence and skills of horse riding. For more experienced riders or those who have lost confidence, it is an opportunity to work 1 on 1 to work on individual goals or through concerns. Students then ride as a group. The emphasis of the activities will be on safe fun. The students will play games, go for a farm ride, treasure hunt, etc that practice the objectives taught in the earlier private lesson and that develop confidence and skill. |
