Pony Tales Horses and Ponies
Like our student base, most of our school horses have been a part of Pony Tales for many years and each horse/pony brings special talents to our program from beginner walk-trot experts to show ready mounts.
| Nero 11hh foaled 1991Old and safe, Nero is our first ridden school master and he is proud of his important role at the school.
Nero is voice controlled and carefully takes our new first ridden and apprehensive riders. Over time he happily steps riders up and transforms them (or himself) into accomplished competitors! |
Dreamy 12hh foaled 1995Dreamy the beautiful, is a showy chestnut with four white stockings. He is a responsive pony who is happy to follow the school ponies but he really loves to jump.
A favourite with our little riders who want to go a little faster, he is an ideal man to teach riders to trot and jump. . |

| Tally 14.1hh foaled 1986A very well bred gentleman and school master.
A true champion and gentleman, Tally has had a competition career that has spanned more than 16 years. Starting as a yearling with a Supreme Champion in hand, Tally went on to win many more showing championships, open dressage competitions, One Day Events and Show Jumping classes. Now, Tally gracefully teaches our riders their first canter and rising trot with the patience and precision of a true champion. |
Kalinka 14.1hh foaled 2001Kalinka is a multichampion welsh/arab cross mare who has won countless trophys and awards, the most memorable being the Horse of the Year 1m Title Class in 2008.
Registered with Equestrian Sports New Zealand, she has continued her career with our young riding school riders after Abby had grown to old to compete on her. Still Abby's favoured hunter (and clients), Kalinka is in foal to Tuatahi Song and is due December 2011. |

| McGregor 15.1hh foaled 2000True to the welsh cob (section D) breed, McGregor is a strong, hardy and a great hunter with a gentle nature.
Originally purchased as my sisters hunter, McGregor has become a valuable and versatile part of the riding school team. Ridden by children and adults he is a steady and reliable fellow. |
Cruz 16hh foaled 2000My main man. Cruz is my hunter, and a safe learn to ride school master the rest of the time.
Previously Tom Cruz's stunt horse in The Last Samari, there is not much that Cruz has not seen or done - he has been inside our house, ridden battle scenes, perhaps one of the truly bomb-proof horses! He is exceptional to ride, kind, safe, reliable and honest - truly one in a million. I love this horse. |

| Fudge 12hh foaled 1997Our beautiful dapple dun, Fudge loves attention - and usually gets it! He is primarily our lunge pony, but he jumps and loves going out for a ride.
Like most little ponies he is a bit cheeky. So (off the lunge) he is mostly ridden by our more experienced wee riders. |
Tui 15hh foaled 1985We feel privileged to have such a wonderful mare. Everyones favourite, we save her for our more beginner riders. Foward moving and responsive yet a steady and smooth ride she is highly intelligent and will adapt to suit her riders ability.
Tui, as she is affectionately known, was imported to NZ to be the foundation mare for Tui Morgans, & was the first registered Morgan mare to come to New Zealand. She has excellent bloodlines, with many famous names in her pedigree, including Waseekas Nocturne, Upwey Ben Don, Orcland Leader & Flyhawk. She has been a multi champion in the Morgan section at shows & at National Morgan shows. At the North Island All Breeds Show in 2005 she was Supreme Champion Broodmare of the show. At the 2009 National Morgan Show, Tui was once again Supreme Champion Morgan Mare, & was shown under saddle & in harness, at 24 years old! |   Z learns to canter |
| Mardi 13.2hh foaled 1996Tui's Mardigras is a Part Morgan mare loaned to us by Tui Morgans. Mardi is a great all round pony and one of our most popular riding school horses.
When she was young she won several supreme champions in the pony and Morgan rings. A great well schooled childs pony, she went to Pony Clubs' Springston Trophy (One Day Event) and SIPC Show Jumping Champs. Her riders also competed sucessfully in dressage and Mardi has done all those things good kids ponies do; hunted, trekked etc etc |
Monique 14.1hh foaled 2002Tui's Monique is a purebred Morgan also loaned to us by Tui Morgans. Grand daughter of Tui she is also intelligent and a well schooled responsive ride. She has been taught western and english riding as well as how to bow!
Because of her awesome movement and great temperament, Bridget Cameron (owner of Tui Morgans) is currently training her for harness. |

| Monty 14.1hh foaled 1995Been there and done that, Monty is a full wire hunter and seasoned show hunter and show jumping pony.
Responsive and keen, Monty is a favourite for those who want to jump that bit higher or go that bit faster. |
Scarlett 14.2hh foaled 2005Scarlet is our baby and is also a registered Morgan horse, with the same bloodlines as Tui, Mardi and Monique .She is a quick and nimble ride.
She is proving to be a talented jumper and will start this season doing Show Hunter classes. She is an awesome trekking horse and has come out to a few hunts and is shaping up to be a great wee hunter too. |

| Nick 16hh foaled 1999A welsh cob x thoroughbred Nick is a beautiful well schooled horse. Ideal for teaching riders the finer dressage moves as he is reponsive to the leg, hand and seat aids.
Currently competing at Show Hunter with the Equestrian Sports NZ with Juliet, he is also a talented jumper. |
