Juliet MacDonald

The director and owner, Juliet MacDonald has been a riding instructor for more than 6 years and a rider and competitor for nearly 30 years. Juliet established Pony Tales Riding School in 2005, purchasing the current property on SH1 in 2006 as her business blossomed. Juliet has continued her journey as an equestrian professional, building up her stables to create an unparalleled environment in which her horses and riders thrive.

Previously establishing New Zealands largest volunteer environmental education campaign, Clean Up New Zealand, Juliet is passionate about keeping children close to nature and active. Using this corporate experience and tertiary background, Juliet has incorporated education,safety and fun into learning to ride.

Believing that continuing education is vital to staying on top of her game, Juliet continues to study with top trainers and educators for the benefit of her students and horses, she is also hunts with Waikato Hunt in the winter and competes with NZEF Show Hunter in the summer .

Juliets unique talent for instruction, hospitality and passion for horses has created an environment where clients have stayed part of Pony Tales family and return from all over the world to ride.

Trudi Lyles

Trudy believes educating people to help horses from paddock to performance is the key to good horsemanship and happy horses. Trained by Steve Brady whose philosophy is based on developing a horse's trust and confidence through clear, concise communication using natural aids, hand, leg and seat,  Trudy complements our structured systematic process to build your knowledge and riding skills with good horse management. 

Abby Malins
A talented rider and show jumping competitor, Abby attended St Peters Equestrian Academy and was selected for their development squad and was awarded scholarships and awards for her riding ability and dedication.  Currently she undertaking her ESNZ Coach Training Program and is our assistant instructor.
